Friday Leftovers

Today’s edition is a beast of FREE shit…leggo:

1. Guster will be dropping a B-side EP soon, and in anticipation of that event you can download their track ‘On the Ocean’ for FREE on their Facebook page. Just click here, then enter your email address where it asks (you may have to click Free Download on the left). It’s a solid song from their last album Easy Wonderful, which was reviewed by yours truly.

2. I don’t think that I’ve heard of Wiley before, but Pitchfork posted links to two FREE mixtapes, to supplement his for-pay album that also just dropped. Not sure of the logic there, but I won’t complain about FREE music! After first listen, he seems like a decent Brit-rapper, and with DJ Whoo Kid‘s production you know it will knock. Of the two downloads, I prefer Creating A Buzz…so make sure you get both.

3. Speaking of FREE rap, Lil Wayne showed that he’s not too big to push some mixtape action out to his fans this week with the release of Sorry 4 the Wait. In true rap mixtape fashion, Weezy mostly raps over beats from other artists, with his own twist. Get it at DatPiff.
***IMPORTANT*** This mixtape is worth downloading simply for the Lil B verse on ‘Grove St Party’ where the dude absolutely kills it, in the mold of classic lyricists like 50 Tyson and Raptacular.

4. Do yourself a favor and get on the email list for Paste Magazine…they roll out periodic updates with FREE mp3 downloads, and the “player” that presents this music is pretty cool to tinker with. They give a short bio on the artist, and you simply click the “down arrow” to download if you like the track that’s playing (or get all of them in one zip file). Sweet! If for no other reason, join today for a FREE download of ‘You Are a Tourist’ by rock studs Death Cab For Cutie.

5. Far be it from me to suggest that you would actually PAY for music, but iTunes has some sweet reduced prices for good albums that you might want to check out:

Who said that?
